I’ve spent the majority of the week planning the blog posts for the month of July so get excited to read about health rewards, do it yourself loyalty programs and coalition rewards programs soon!  But in anticipation for the long weekend of connecting with friends and family I thought I would leave you with a quick read this week.

I have been coming across a lot of statistical information that supports the basic idea behind loyalty marketing – rewarding your loyal customers will increase your business.  It doesn’t just mean rewards either.  Taking the time to get to know your customers and connect with them is key to loyalty success.

So here you go 5 statistics that support the importance of connecting with your customers and loyalty marketing.

1. Gain Loyalty From First Interaction

48% of consumers say that it’s when they make their first purchase or begin service is the most critical time to gain their loyalty

2. Loyal Customers Spend More

Returning customers spend on average 67% more than first-time customers

3. Loyal Customers Make Your Business Successful

Up to 15% of a business’s most loyal customers account for 55-70% of the company’s total sales

4. Communication is Key

94% of loyalty program members want communications from the programs they participate in

5. Relevancy Matters

Only 31% of Americans find rewards program communications to be extremely relevant

And this has nothing to do with loyalty programs, customer loyalty or marketing at all but I thought I would throw in a bonus stat.

52% of people polled prefer dogs as a pet according to the US pet poll

Which does tie nicely into my point because dogs are the most loyal of pets, right?  It also gives me a reason to include a cute dog picture, meet Norm.
