I didn’t put much thought into it until I started this blog, but I am loyal to a particular gas station chain. It happened unintentionally to be quite honest. With no thoughts of loyalty or loyalty marketing in mind necessarily. Even though I love rewards programs and getting a good deal it wasn't something I sought out in regards to what c-store I frequent.
I am a loyal customer to Super America out of convenience. They just happen to have a gas station close to me, and it contains an ATM that is from my bank. Generally these are two stops that need to be made separately but I’m saving time and cost by hitting them both at once. Before I knew it, I started going out of my way to purchase gas at this gas station versus any other. That's when my loyalty grew from proximity to something more.
The customer base of your stores are loyal for various reasons. As earlier stated, I like SA because it has an ATM from my bank and it is close. I also get 3 cents off a gallon by using my loyalty card. In addition to the gas discount the SA rewrads program offers text message promotions for discounts and offers in the store. These don't get me everytime, but sometimes it comes in just at the right time where I might need that candy bar to make it through the rest of the week.
Because of these text promotions, the gas discount and the convenience I am preprogrammed that gas = Super America. With all of these added perks I will rarely purchase from another place. Super America has rewarded me and turned me into a loyal customer.
